small, women-owned business.
While Pure Barre started changing lives and the fitness industry in 2001, it did not reach me until 2012. I was working 60+ hours a week running a law practice and no longer had the time to do my 90 minutes of power yoga + 30 minutes of cardio. I needed something more efficient, that checked a lot of boxes for physical and mental health. I remember my first Pure Barre class; I had no idea what to expect, but fell in love. I started teaching classes soon after, and then started to work for Pure Barre corporate as a Master Teacher Trainer, traveling the country and running trainings. I purchased the Downtown and West Ashley locations in 2017, and since have grown an incredible community with hundreds of inspiring members alongside my superwomen staff.
Hope to see you at the studio soon.

Why It Works
Pure Barre uses a combination of your body’s own resistance, equipment, and precise movement patterns to fatigue muscles and spark change, fast.
Expect low-impact, high-intensity intervals that build long, lean muscle and improve posture, flexibility, and balance.
Every class is led by expertly trained instructors who offer personalized guidance and encouragement throughout.

[FAQ]
Is Pure Barre hard if I've never done it? Your first class will surprise you — in the best way. Our instructors cue every movement so you always know what to do. The shake you feel halfway through? That's exactly what's supposed to happen.
What's the difference between your class formats? Classic is where most people start, it's the signature Pure Barre workout. Empower turns up the intensity with more cardio. Align is our recovery and flexibility class that still is a workout. Define adds dumbbells for a strength focus. Not sure which to try first? Start with Classic or text us and we'll point you in the right direction.
Where are you located in Charleston? We have two studios — Downtown at 164 Market St and West Ashley at 1300 Savannah Hwy. Both have parking on site.
Do I need to be flexible or fit to start? No. We have members in their 20s and members in their 70s, complete beginners and marathon runners. Pure Barre meets you where you are.
What should I wear and bring? Grip socks are required and available at the studio if you don't have them. Wear whatever you'd wear to any workout class. Bring water + grip socks. That's it.
